Some Myths About Gay Men

The myths about gay men are way beyond imaginations. An assumption about the behaviors and lifestyles of gay men develops in the form of a myth about them. Domestic violence is supposed to be a part and parcel of only the heterosexuals. Reality is a lot more different in the sense that gay partners do not lagm behind in domestic violence. It is often presumed that violence between gay men is a part of their sexual nature. There have been cases reported in courts that throw light on the fact that its not necessary to be well build up and strong to become the batterer in a gay clash. The victim can be heavier than the batterer. It's just a question of the violent attitude of the individual that can lead to a physical abuse.

Majority of the masses believe that gays do not suffer from homophobia, which is entirely incorrect. A major cause of stress and emotional trauma in the life of gay men is due to the fear of society and sexually transmitted diseases. Another prevalent myth regarding gay men is that they frequently change their partners as per their will. If an insight is made in a gay relationship, one can easily understand the dependability factor involved in it. A gay individual would prefer to be with his counterpart because he might feel reluctant to disclose his sexual orientation in open. The fear of what people might say is always hovering in the minds of gay men. People also presume that gay men cannot be good parents and even if they do adopt a child, the upbringing would lack the love and support provided by traditional heterosexual parents. In contrast to this an ever-increasing number of gay couples have come forward in the recent past to adopt homeless kids and provide for their upbringing.

Gay men are also presumed to be only child molesters. However, in contrast to this an equivalent number of heterosexual males have been involved in the cases of child molestation. Coming on the lighter side of the issue, there is another misconception regarding gay men. They are considered to have a sharp eye for recent trends in fashion. This is not necessarily true for all the gay men living on the planet. Yes, some may show an extraordinary fashion sense as compared to straight men. Last but not the least, gays love the way they live, to assume that they wished to be women is completely one's own imagination.
